Eyam remembering 70 years of The Dambusters. 1943-2013. "They died for your freedom"
Children's Well, dressed by children aged 5-15 years.
Money raised from the Wells goes towards setting up and maintaining sports facilities for the village. The dressings are all made using natural products (petals, seeds, twigs, leaves etc) and set into a clay background. Depending on the weather they can last over a week, but there is hours of work collecting, sorting and positioning to be done first. The Wells are blessed at the beginning of the week and the Carnival is at the end of the week. A time for great 'celebration'! (and creativity!!) -- for ------
---individuals.........
..............and for groups.............
The world famous "Billarettes". (They had a young girl mascot this year.)
We really liked this float.
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
This is an annual event and a lot of work goes into it - with excellent results for such a small village.
On one of our recent visits to the Old Moor RSPB reserve we captured a rare visitor to the reserve -- a Spoonbill, pictured with some Lapwings.
