Le Tour July

Here are just a few photos from the Tour when it came here.
We went to the Skipton Canal Festival prior to the Grand Depart. It was so amazing to see how much trouble Yorkshire folk went to to celebrate the Tour.

These photos were taken on the day the Tour came over Woodhead Pass.

 Part of what is known as "The Caravan" which precedes the cyclists. The lack of spectators here is quite unusual because the crowds all along the route were AMAZING!

Somerset June 2014

Towards the end of June, we paid our first visit to Alasdair and Natasha,at Radstock, in Somerset. It is a lovely, very rural spot, handy for their work (and play!)

                   We took our bikes down - cycling on the Somerset Levels.

Two photos put together....the left half is the front of the house, the right is the back with a very private yard. There are three houses in the terrace.
Kelly came to Radstock for our last night and we brought her back to Emley for the weekend. On the trip back we stopped off at Bourton on the Water for lunch.

                                                  Hebden Bridge Street Carnival in June.
Costumes,large jointed puppets and models were all created over several weeks at workshops held in the town.It was quite impressive with some lively (loud!) bands and dancers.

            A June cycle with Hilary and David along the Monsal Trail, an 8 1/2 mile disused railway line in the Peak District(17 mile round trip) with 6 tunnels and two viaducts.
