Summer Happenings July 2013

For some of the time I was busy 'crafting' in preparation for the Open Garden Festival exhibition on Sunday July 7th. Graham, Alasdair and Natasha found things to do out and about - including looking for a new car, and trying out their new Digital SLR camera.

                                              Busy, busy needles!

                                                            Flowers ...flowers........

Graham and Natasha in buttercup meadow.

Natasha on local path through hay meadow.

Local footpath signs....Public Footpath, Emley Boundary Walk, The  Kirklees Way.(x2)

Yorkshire Sculpture Park ...............a sculpture by Yinka Shonibare MBE
                                    Exhibition entitled - FABRIC-ATION

Sculpture by Niki de Saint Phalle, born in France, grew up in USA.

                                                                  Floral tea cosy finished.

The Exhibition (10am - 6pm) was in a barn at one of the open gardens. A very cool place to be as the day was VERY hot ........ numbers visiting were reduced because of the heat, ..................and the Wimbledon men's final was being played in the afternoon!

The picture on the left was one of two felted flower pictures sold. I had not actually set out to sell items so it was a bonus.

                                                      Table display.

                             ........................and another.

Floral wreaths.

A patch of lettuces - any ready for picking??

" ........ nearly time to pack up and go home, Catherine."

                                                  The resident in the garden..........

....................... trying to hide among the pots.

and then to a BBQ at Stephen and Cilla's.               But where is Stephen???????

.......   Here I am!       Alison with her back to camera and Freddie.

.........is this for walkers ?         .............or cyclists?

and even a BBQ at Emley!

Two windows on this side of the house???              Aren't cameras clever!!

A day trip to the Yorkshire Dales. The Blue Bell Inn at Kettlewell.......

..................and across the road - The Racehorses Hotel.

Looking down to Kettlewell on the walk over to Arncliffe.

                                        Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales.

........................and over the hill to Arncliffe, in Littondale.

You Southerners!!!     That hole is for the sheep!      Try the stile!

Arncliffe village green.  The hill we walked over is in the background.

                                      Arncliffe Church.

                         Walking back along the valley.

....and so with their new car and camera tried and tested,  they head off for royal territory!
Yes - their visit to Bucklebury just happened to coincide with the royal birth and the village was inundated with photographers!" ( Kate's home village!)

...........so what?        I'm beautiful!
